CNPS Public Speaking Competition

Students will present their prepared speeches to their class during Week 6 (29^th May – 2^nd June). Students should be prepared to present on any day throughout the week. We ask that you work with your child in composing, finalising and practising their speech. As we would like children to focus on their oral delivery, props are not to be used, however palm cards are encouraged. K-2 palm cards can have pictures/drawings on them to help.

Two students from each class will be selected to progress through to the school stage-based finals on Monday Week 7 (5^th June). Successful candidates will then have the option to represent Cardiff North Public School at the Zone Public Speaking Finals.

Time Limits

Kindergarten (Early Stage 1) -   1-2 mins (One warning bell at 1 ½ minutes, 2 bells at 2 minutes)            

Years 1 and 2 (Stage 1)          -   1-2 mins     (One warning bell at 1 ½ minutes, 2 bells at 2 minutes)                                        

Years 3 and 4 (Stage 2)   -   2-3 mins (One warning bell at 2 ½ minutes. 2 bells at 3 minutes)

Years 5 and 6 (Stage 3)   -   3-3½ mins (One warning bell at 3 minutes. 2 bells at 3½ mins)
