Musica Viva Performance (Whyiss)

Musica Viva

Students at Cardiff North Public School have been learning about Torres Strait Musical games and traditions.

We are so excited to have this performance come to our school.

$6:50 per student to attend the show.

More information:

On the surface, childhood games seem like pure fun — but they are also an important record of who we are and where we come from. From spinning tops to string figures, this wildly entertaining and colourfully costumed ensemble show how culture and history are passed on through singing, dancing and games. By comparing their own childhood games to those from the Torres Strait, students come to understand the importance of traditions, and to be thankful to those who teach them. Presented by Musica Viva In Schools in conjunction with NAISDA Dance College.

This performance is an important part of the school’s CAPA program and builds on preparatory work done in class. The activities are linked directly to the Music Curriculum.
